What is systemic family psychotherapy?

The Evidence Base

Systemic therapy is well established with a strong and ever-growing evidence base, demonstrating its effectiveness in treating a broad range of difficulties including, anxiety, depression, trauma, relational conflict and distress. It is also recognised in its effectiveness in supporting people experiencing eating disorders and is a prominent talk therapy in the area of perinatal mental health.

Systemic psychotherapy explores how your relationships and the wider systems in your life shape your experiences, including connections with people, culture, religion, gender and age; to name a few. Rather than focusing solely on the individual, systemic thinking considers what is happening around you and how these factors shape how you feel, cope, and relate to people and the world.

This approach is grounded in the idea that none of us exists in isolation. When life feels stuck or overwhelming, systemic therapy helps you reflect on patterns in your relationships and experiences, creating space for new understanding and ways to move forward.

Amani is the Kiswahili word for peace. My hope is that through our work together you may
